Build bots, then put the deck to work

Card Bots is a prototype deck-building roguelike developed through Covert Sky. Players assemble and customize a the deck they have built to shape how those bots perform in battle. Each body part comes with a pack of cards, streamlining the deckbuilding aspect and providing a new layer of expression in the genera.

Covert Sky came together because of this project! My focus has been to guide the game's development across programming, systems design, production, and iteration. The project reflects my focus on mechanics that communicate their state clearly while supporting meaningful strategic combinations.

Iterating from action to information

I use prototypes to test both sides of the experience: the expressive personality of each bot and the tactical information players need to make a decision. I built data-driven editor tooling around bot and card setup so I can move from authoring or tuning a value to validating it in live combat quickly. This lets me iterate on animation, camera framing, board readability, balance, and card feedback together rather than treating presentation as a layer added after the systems are complete.
